Mel is the Vice President and the Group Chief Information Security Officer of Meralco (largest Power Distribution in the Philippines) and its subsidiaries. She has more than 20 years experience in Information Security Management, Privacy, Cyber Security Operations Center, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Disaster Recovery, IT Audit and Project Management. She is also the co-founder of the Philippine Women in Cyber Alliance (PWCA) which focuses on empowering and inspiring women in Security. She was awarded as IFSEC Global Influencer Top 20 on September 2020 under the Security Executives category.
Prior to joining Meralco, she was the Vice President for Information Security, Privacy and Enterprise Risk Management of the largest Fintech Company wherein she established the compliance program on Data Privacy and led the strategy for application and infrastructure security. She led the development of the Security Operations Center and spearheaded the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and initiatives. Also, she served as the Cyber Security Director of Deloitte Philippines where she led Technology Risk Management Projects servicing clients within Southeast Asia. Further, she expanded the cyber security capability in the Philippines and increased the foot print of the firm in the local market by establishing strategic partnerships in the Philippines and within Asia Pacific.
